In 2008, IAG's Business Analysis Benchmark looked at large strategic projects, and established the link between requirements quality and project outcome.  In that study, IAG found unquestionable evidence of the tremendous cost of poor requirements in organizations.

In 2009, IAG decided to go farther with the Business Analysis Benchmark Study.  Not only did we expand the size of the reseach effort by four times, this study looks at all IT projects, and also looks at the impact requirements maturity has on overall corporate competitiveness. 

To enhance our findings, IAG asked external reviewers to validate findings and provide their commentary.  IAG also conducted extensive research on the optimal approach to making improvement in the area of requirements definition and management.  For these reasons we subtitled the report - The Path To Success - since the report not only talks about the problem of poor requirements, but the steps needed to make substantial improvement.
