MOST POPULAR INSTRUCTOR-LED COURSES

  • Specifying Client Requirements (SCR) Create the most accurate, complete, and clear business specs you have ever seen by applying practical techniques for gathering and documenting user requirements quickly and easily. This two-day course teaches analysts the IT industry's best practices, and more importantly, how to apply them on their systems development projects.
  • Writing Business/System Specifications (WBSS) If you are frustrated by inconsistent, incomplete, unprofessional or unusable specifications -- or are simply in need of guidance on how to easily produce practical, accurate & readable specs, this is for you. This is a two-day course on capturing, writing and completing quality requirements specifications, based on industry standards. Participants will build on the systems analysis best practices from the 'Specifying Client Requirements' course. In this hands-on workshop, they will learn and practice documentation and modeling techniques using standard templates, worksheets and checklists. (Prerequisite: SCR)
  • Facilitating a Requirements Discovery Session (FRDS) Learn and practice the facilitation skills and communication techniques for conducting productive requirements meetings and obtaining and defining requirements interactively with your users. After this three-day workshop, participants can expect to lead subject matter experts through the definition of their requirements -- with practical questioning, facilitation and analysis techniques that manage the unique dynamics of typical user meetings. This workshop focuses on the application and use of proven best practices from the fields of Software Engineering, Joint Application Development (JAD) and Business Modeling within a user requirements meeting.  (Prerequisite: SCR)
  • Conducting a Requirements Use-Case Workshop (CRUCW) This highly interactive workshop covers the process, methods, steps and questions to use when facilitating a structured Use-Case driven requirements workshop. Learn how to effectively facilitate use-case discussions to elicit the essential and sufficient level of requirements.  Get answers to questions such as: How many use cases do I need to write? What level of detail do I need to go to? How much should I include in a Use Case? This is a very practical approach that makes it quick and easy to discover, describe and document Use Cases directly with your stakeholders. More than 50% of this class is devoted to hands-on group work, individual presentation and feedback assessments using a common case exercise.
  • Data Warehouse Requirements Analysis (DWRA) Don't get caught in the trap of implementing a data warehouse that doesn't meet the client's needs. Learn project-saving techniques unique to specifying Data Warehouse and decision support system requirements. This two-day seminar covers specific modeling and analysis techniques that focus on how to develop complete, and clear specifications with, and for, your Data Warehouse clients.
  • Maintenance Requirements Analysis (MRA) Eliminate the frustrations of trying to enhance or maintain your legacy system with outdated, inaccurate or non-existing documentation. This two-day course will show you how easy it is to define and document specifications for maintenance enhancements related projects. The techniques taught are transferable and appropriate for use with any development platform, type of project, and development methodology. (Prerequisite: SCR)
