TORONTO, ON (October 2003) This month, three employees of The Information Architecture Group were among the 28 founding members of the newly formed International Institute of Business Analysis.
The International Association of Business Analysis (IIBA) is an international not-for-profit professional association for Business Analysts based in Toronto, Canada and open to members worldwide. The IIBA will define the business analysis profession by providing certification and accreditation to its members, unifying its practitioners, and creating a voice for the profession as a whole.
The IIBA held its inaugural meeting in October 2003, in Toronto, Canada with 28 founding members from 21 different organizations and representing over eight countries.
Among the key volunteers were David Barret of BA World, Bonnie Walker of IAG and Kathleen Barrett from BMO Financial. Both the latter were elected to the Working Committee which will begin to create a constitution and plan for membership services for the first general meeting to be scheduled in March 2004.
"As one of the three founding sponsors, IAG is pleased to assist in the creation of an association like this which promises to be a major influence in this rapidly growing and important field of Business Analysis," said IAG's co-President, Ross Little. "The IIBA will undoubtedly be an integral part of creating and developing awareness of the value and contribution of the Business Analyst role and in managing a body of knowledge and certification process for BA's."
